Dr. Sarah Keyton
Dr. Sarah Keyton’s career as a mathematics teacher, which was solely in the state of Georgia, spanned the gamut of courses: 7th grade math, pre-Algebra, which at that time was a regular 8th grade class, Algebra I to 9th graders, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, Honors Algebra II, Statistics, and AP Calculus. As a mathematics department chair, she started a campaign in which students at beginner level mathematics courses visited students in upper level mathematics courses which created a pipeline of Black students taking AP level mathematics courses. Dr. Keaton’s 33-year career began when she taught mathematics at the middle school from which she graduated, located in South Georgia.
